Social Security Rights Victoria is excited to announce that from 1 July 2025 it became a program within Holstep Health. The new arrangement aims to strengthen, sustain and extend the delivery of specialist statewide social security legal services. It will also extend Holstep Health’s reach across Victoria and it’s service offerings to the community.
This change will ensure continued and improved services to vulnerable and disadvantaged Victorians, those who support them, other professionals and the legal centre teams who provide these services.
Social Security Rights Victoria’s high impact team assist people with issues including:
- Eligibility for pensions and allowances
- Refusal, variations, suspension and cancellation of payments
- Overpayments and debts raised by Centrelink
- Appealing Centrelink decisions
- Intersection between social security matters and issues such as the impact of family violence or of disasters.
Holstep Health offers a wide range of health, social care, and legal services throughout Victoria. The local legal program, West Heidelberg Community Legal, has a long history of helping disadvantaged community members through free, accessible legal help and were the first community health-justice partnership in Australia.
With Social Security Rights Victoria now part of Holstep Health, we hope to reach even more people—statewide—who are facing challenges with their income support or social security.
We’re excited about the joining up of Social Security Rights Victoria with Holstep Health and how this will build on a commitment to holistic care that supports every aspect of health and wellbeing — physical, mental, social, financial, and legal.
